Colorized Sleipnir Rides into our Nordic Creatures Series

Many of you may already be familiar with Provident’s Nordic Creatures series of silver rounds, featuring some of the legendary creatures from Norse mythology. After the rounds were released in proof and antiqued finishes, we began offering colorized versions of these popular designs as well. After the launch of colorized Nidhoggr and Frost Giant rounds, colorized Sleipnir has now joined the ranks!

Offered in both 1 oz and 5 oz weights, our colorized Sleipnir rounds are made of .999 fine silver and produced at the Osborne Mint, in partnership with Anonymous Mint. Each of the five creatures in the series, along with the shared reverse, was designed by internationally renowned illustrator Howard David Johnson.

The obverse features a brilliantly colorized field, with the main design in a proof finish. Sleipnir is an eight-legged horse ridden by Norse god Odin, and is his steed of choice while journeying throughout the Nine Worlds. Sleipnir’s origins stem back to when trickster god Loki shapeshifted into a mare and was impregnated by the stallion of a giant.

Sleipnir is only one of Odin’s shamanic helping spirits. Two others are pictured here; ravens Hugin and Munin fly alongside within the colorized field.

The shared reverse, in a stunning proof finish, depicts the World Tree named Yggdrasil. You can see various animals coming to the eternal green ash tree for food and shelter. Legend tells that the giant branches of Yggdrasil stretch out over all the Nine Worlds.

Colorized Sleipnir rounds were produced with a limited mintage. Don’t miss your chance to own this beautiful rendition of a beloved legend!
