As you likely know, Provident Metals is headquartered in Texas. There is a saying here, “if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes; it’ll change.” This week, we experienced a downpour in the middle of a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
In situations of unpredictable circumstances, what is the driving force behind your decisions? A comparison can easily be drawn between uncertain weather conditions and the fluctuating stock market.
Financial planning is not my business, but in my mind, hedging your portfolio by adding precious metals is a wise decision, right? It’s the only commodity to have actual face value as currency in addition to holding potential for an even greater return. Obviously, I have motivation to sell precious metals as a smart investment, but here you are on the blog of a bullion business; so, you must have some interest, whether vested or not, in precious metals.
For long time investors in bullion, what has your experience been with the massive changes in spot prices? What causes you to buy or sell in the market (aside from collector motivations)?
For the new investors, what led to your decision to toe the water and begin diversifying your portfolio? Which precious metals investments do you feel at ease with, and which cause concern?
If you are just thinking of expanding your IRA to include precious metals, what information is most important to you? What questions do you want answered before joining the stacker nation?
Like the fickle Texas weather, the market can change rapidly; make sure you’re prepared for whatever it brings. Always have an umbrella in your car and prepare for the future with wise investing.
Happy Stacking!

I’ve made the decision to invest in something that actually has value. Recently made my first precious metals purchase from Provident actually, by the reference of a co-worker. I’m a 30 year old blue-collar worker from a small conservative southern town, from my own knowledge and interest, precious metals have always been the constant for trading of commodities throughout human history, regardless of technological advancements. Not only from the aspect of having a percentage of secure financial means, precious metals (in the worse-case scenario, as a previous poster mentioned) are the main means of bartering in times of extreme crisis. Although, I pray God has different plans for us, being in law enforcement, one of our best motto’s is “I’d rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it”.

I surely hope so. Regardless, I’ve become very interested in the field of precious metals in the past days. I did not realize the consumer base and interest in it. From the regularly updated information, the economic impact, & the constant articles published (especially here). I would consider myself a pretty tech savvy individual & web user/contributor (You-tube, Reddit, etc.) and I must say the options on a consumer website are excellent. Articles are extremely well written, metal prices are up-to-date, & the user interface is awesome. I will be a regular now. Thanks!

I very recently began to purchase bullion. Mostly as a sure & physical security blanket in the event of a worse case or near-worse case scenario. Secondly as a collection endeavor, and I can’t imagine a more sound hobby than one that involves the mere owning of the most valuable and secure form of worldwide currency.
Never had I imagined the varied and flexible forms of bullion available. From limited editions to specialty pieces. This only increased my interest in bullion collecting. Thank you for such an accessible from to acquire precious metals.

Great points, Martin! Before I began working with precious metals, I was pretty “meh” about coin collecting, as I had no exposure to it. However, NOW, I absolutely love it. There are, like you said, SO many creative designs, and it’s a hobby with a return, which makes it guilt free. Mostly. 🙂

In times of uncertainty such as now, I stick to the coin collecting side more than the investment aspect. When prices decline again, I purchase to invest. What little I do invest turns into more coins or larger investments down the road. Happy hunting!
