Since their first mintage in 1982, the Mexican Silver Libertad has been Mexico’s flagship bullion coin that is treasured by investors around the world. The 2017 Silver Libertads are now available from the Banco de México, marking their 36th anniversary.
Unlike most silver bullion coins that come with a standard weight of one troy ounce, the Silver Libertad comes in six different weights: one-tenth ounce, one-quarter ounce, one-half ounce, one ounce, two ounces, and five ounces. This gives investors a wide range of financial flexibility when it comes to buying silver. Regardless of weight, each Silver Libertad is made of .999 fine silver and guaranteed by the Banco de México.
Libertads are manufactured at the National Mint of Mexico, also known as the Casa de Moneda de México. The mint was established in 1535, making it the oldest mint in North America. The design of the world-renowned Libertad coins draws historical inspiration from the Centenario gold coin that was minted from 1921 to 1947.
The obverse of the Libertad prominently features Mexico’s national seal, which depicts an eagle perched atop a cactus with a snake in its beak. It’s surrounded by ten additional coats of arms that represent Mexico’s provinces.
On the reverse, the Mexican angel of independence called Winged Victory stands between two volcanoes called Popcatepeti and Izatccuhuati. These volcanoes were named after a pair of lovers from pre-Columbian lore.

I frequent the sites of 3 precious metals dealers and you guys are last by a mile on the release of these. Not that I am a huge volume buyer by any means but I am a regular buyer and I have had these in hand from someone else for almost a month.

Hello Jim and thanks for the comment. We can tell you we weren’t late by choice. We have done our level best to add these to our site. The supply is controlled by a very short list of distributors and we were not allowed to purchase the inventory until recently.
