Provident’s original Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse series of silver and copper rounds continues with the Black Horse of Famine. This is the third design in the series, following the White Horse of Conquest and the Red Horse of War. The new Black Horse will be released on October 1st.
After the Red Horse brings war to the land, the Black Horse rides in bearing an eerie, supernatural appearance. The rider carries a set of scales for measuring rations of food, as sustenance is in short supply after war sweeps through. During the Black Horse’s ride, staples like wheat and barley are hard to come by. Famine will hit the poor the hardest due to the rising prices that come with supply/demand principles. Each round in this series features a privy mark unique to the horsemen it’s featured on. The Black Horse bears a privy mark in the shape of a small set of scales. Check our blog to read about the other designs in this series.
The Black Horse will be available as a BU silver round and a BU copper round beginning on October 1st. Later, we will have a limited number of NGC graded and slabbed Black Horse rounds available for sale. (Graded Red Horse rounds are still on the way; it’s taken some time to ensure that you’ll receive top quality products.) These graded rounds will be available in both a proof and antiqued finish, with grades of GEM BU, 69, and 70. Each comes individually numbered in a holder with a custom series label.
On October 1st and 2nd—for only two days—you can buy both the Red Horse and Black Horse rounds. We don’t want you to miss out because you were watching Sunday football or otherwise enjoying your weekend! The Black Horse round will be available from October 1st to January 1st. We encourage you to sign up for product alerts for the Black Horse and the subsequent designs in the series so you don’t miss out on this limited run of original bullion designs.
We’re very excited to release the Black Horse, but don’t miss your opportunity to own the Red Horse as well! You have only a few more days to buy the Red Horse round before it is discontinued. As of today, over 11,000 silver Red Horse rounds and over 10,000 copper Red Horse rounds have been sold. This low mintage is great for collectors. We’ve already seen the White Horse round doing well in the secondary market, and the Red Horse round is on track to have a lower mintage.
Have you been collecting this series? We’d love to hear your reactions in the comments below.
