Honor the Year of the Rabbit in 2023 with a New Range of Collectibles at Provident Metals

The 2023 Lunar Year of the Rabbit started on Sunday, January 22, and celebrations are on around the globe. Lunar New Year celebrations are found not only throughout China but also in countless nations where Chinese nationals have settled over the last several decades. Festivities often include the exchange of money as a gift of good luck for the year ahead, with gold and silver enthusiasts no doubt familiar with the wide range of gold, silver, and even platinum products celebrating each Lunar New Year. The 2023 Year of the Rabbit has its own selection of beautiful bullion products available.

Lunar Series III at Perth Mint

Perth Mint offers arguably the most well-known lunar collections in the world. Since 1996, Perth Mint has offered lunar-themed bullion coins that have only grown in variety and popularity since the Lunar Series I program started. As of 2020, Perth Mint is in the midst of its Lunar Series III program, with gold, silver, and now platinum bullion coins available to investors and collectors.

The 2023 Year of the Rabbit features images from Ing Ing Jong, one of Perth Mint’s most celebrated designers. Her first Lunar Series design came during the second program when she created the 2013 Year of the Snake image. In 2023, she is responsible for both designs used in the series on the gold and silver coins, with the gold design featuring on the platinum coins.

For 2023, Queen Elizabeth II remains on the obverse of the coins, with Jody Clark’s 2015 depiction of the Queen used on all coins. This image shows Her Majesty in right-profile relief at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem.

Provident Lunar Series Bullion

At Provident Metals, we’re proud to offer a custom Lunar Series of silver bullion products. Our collection offers a 1 oz silver round and a 10 oz silver bar. Both products feature the same design on the obverse honoring the Year of the Rabbit. For 2023, we’ve also introduced special packaging as a third option. The 1 oz silver rounds are available in a standard listing with individual and bulk packaging offered, but we also now offer a Year of the Rabbit Lunar Series Card option that individually seals each round inside a special Lunar Rabbit card.

Lunar Notes

Merrick Mint produces one of the more unique options among lunar-themed collectibles. The private mint takes $2 (USD) Federal Reserve Notes and applies a special colorization process to create $2 bills with beautiful, Year of the Rabbit design themes. These notes feature a variety of visual enhancements that make the notes perfect for gifting during Lunar New Year celebrations. These include special finishes such as the Polychrome Rabbit Note and the Golden Hologram Rabbit Note.

Other Year of the Rabbit Products

There are more Lunar Calendar products available with each passing year as the popularity of this design concept grows. Though the items mentioned above are some of the more popular, prominent, and unique, they are not the only items available. Various mints offer lunar-themed bullion coins from nations like Singapore, Samoa, and even Bhutan, while the likes of PAMP Suisse and Argor-Heraeus offer lunar-themed bullion bars in gold and silver.

Basics for the Year of the Rabbit

The Year of the Rabbit is the fourth in the 12-year cycle of the Lunar Calendar. Rabbits, and those born under their sign, are said to be optimistic, gracious, and kind-hearted, though they can also be vain, emotionally unstable, and too easily satisfied with the status quo. There are five different iterations of each animal on the Zodiac, with 2023 representing the Year of the Water Rabbit. Specific traits prominent in a Year of the Water Rabbit include easy-going, agreeable natures, with lower self-control.
