Setback for the Greenback
The US dollar’s post-election rally has proven fleeting since those gains have since been lost. At the same time, the euro is strengthening. Currency analysts believe this is due to factors such as weak US economic growth, relief over France’s recent election, and worries that Trump’s political setbacks (such as the latest Russia controversy) may affect his economic agenda. Other industry professionals believe the losses are due to shifts in the global economy and central bank policy. For instance, the euro is doing well because of a record European trade surplus in March, along with the promised stability of France’s new president.
