Brrrr! It is a very chilly Friday morning here in Dallas, Texas! The whispers of potential snow have left grocery store shelves barren as we, winter warriors, prepare to handle the brutal arctic weather.
While I don’t think we will see any white flurries today, I do like the imagery of snow. A fresh white blanket covering the ground as we enter this new year. It’s a new start and a new opportunity to start fresh with a blank canvas. 2017 will be what we make it.
I’ve been musing over the things I want to accomplish this year. Typically, resolutions fall into a few common categories- health, career, or personal life goals. We want to lose weight, get in shape, get that promotion, make more money, find a healthy relationship, be more outgoing, or change our outlook on life.
Resolutions are a great way to take a moment to evaluate where you are and think about where you want to be. The problem is, statistically, we don’t follow through with our Jan 1 list of goals. Why? I believe it’s because we don’t set ourselves up for success. Changing a habit or creating a new one takes discipline and, oftentimes, accountability.
This year, let’s change that. What goals do you have? In relation to precious metals, do you have goals for investing? I’ve read a few goals from Silverbugs. Some would like to invest in 1 oz of silver a day; others have goals to collect a certain series or reach an overall portfolio goal. How would you like to see your stack grow in 2017?
Because I’ve commented in the past on the community feel of bullion buyers, I’d like to know if you have goals outside of just stacking, as well. What is the single biggest thing you hope to accomplish in the coming year?
If you have investing goals, how can I help? What kind of resources do you think would aid your stacking goals? More blogs on investing? Advice on the right time to buy? Market trends alerts? How can Provident Metals help you become the investor you desire to be in 2017? I think by sharing our resolutions, we are more likely to be successful accomplishing them.
I have no idea what 2017 will bring. I think the American landscape could look very different after January 21st. What I do know, however, is we are the biggest influence in our own lives, and we can make this our best year. Let me know what you want to accomplish in the next 12 months and how I can help you be successful!
Start your new year stack with the timeless 2017 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf. You can’t go wrong collecting the annual Maple Leafs.
Happy Stacking!

“What goals do you have?”
Lots of dates with gorgeous single women in their 30s who are really into seriously old guys like me. Typically these only happen when my eyelids are shut. So thanks for asking but don’t think you can help much with this. 🙂
Now, as far as metal goes. Look at your Prospector round and that other company’s road sign round. Both are very well done and appear to be selling very well for both of you. First rate generics, like your Prospector is something we could use to see some more of. I’m buying for low premium weight right now but even so a guy needs to buy something “fun” too !!!
Tell the powers that be to pick out two more themes and bring out a quality generic round for each one of them. Now as far as those butt fugly generics that everyone has got. I’d even buy some of those if the price was at super duper get them out of here sale prices.

Haha! I’ll pass the message along to the big wigs! 😀 I’m always amazed at how inexpensive the Prospector is priced for how well designed it is.

In my view and in the view of many others, silver continues to be very undervalued, so a New Years resolution that involved acquiring silver would be a prudent one. Purchasers of PMs need to understand (as I believe they do) that we transact in a manipulated system, you will not have accurate, dare I say “honest” price discovery in the system the way it exists. The hope is that the system will be changed much for the better in the future and true price discovery will be realized in a stable marketplace. The fortunate outcome in the present day is that silver and gold are repressed, this of course is a buyer’s market. We must remember also that silver has only really peaked to approx. $50.00 an ounce once in the recorded history that I see. In my opinion it will only peak to that amount again in the current manipulated system if the banks want it to. Either way, patience as always is a must for the small investor. There are many pundits who believe silver could go much higher but rocketing PM prices may bring a turbulent event and outcome. 2017 will be something to see, no doubt.

I agree. I definitely believed silver to be undervalued, so purchasing when prices are $16-$17 is a no brainer for me.

I don’t know if we need more blogs on investing, I think there’s more than enough out there. Maybe as it pertains to PM investing. What is the recommended ratio of gold to silver. I’ve been operating under the 70:1 ratio which is why I’m a buyer of silver right now, but now people are saying that ratio no longer applies. What about platinum and palladium? Should I be diversified in PM as I am in the rest of my portfolio?
Advice on the right time to buy and market trends might be helpful. Since I’m a true investor, not a stacker, I’m actually interested in the right time to sell. When my wife asked me what my exit strategy was I told her I’m a buyer of silver up to $25 and a seller at $30. Based on market trends, charts, and historical data, do you see silver going back up to $49 anytime soon? Should I still be a buyer at $30 and a seller at $40?
I’ve been reading your blog since it started I think… but I don’t recall ever seeing your name (or pen name) anywhere. Do you have one? It just seems so impersonal responding to an enigma. Or should I just use -J?

I’ll be working on some blogs to address your questions! I appreciate your feedback each week. You can call me J. I try to stay lurking in the shadows a bit; you know us silverbugs love our anonymity. 😉
