Provident Metals has signed a multiple race sponsorship agreement with Phil Parsons Racing making them the primary sponsor for NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Josh Wise and his No. 98 car. The agreement will span four races from August through November, finishing off the 2014 sponsorship in Provident’s home state of Texas.
“The guys from Provident Metals arrived in Daytona to sign the agreement with monster boxes full of Zombucks silver rounds to cover their deposit,” said Phil Parsons, owner of Phil Parsons Racing. “That was an exciting exchange and a first for us. We’re thrilled to have them as part of our team.
The creative team at Provident Metals is hard at work and will debut the first of four exciting paint schemes next month in Bristol, Tennessee.
Provident Metals will be prominently featured on the No. 98 car during the following races:
- Aug. 23, 2014 – Irwin Tools Night Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee
- Sept. 6, 2014 – Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway in Virginia
- Oct. 11, 2014 – Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina
- Nov. 2, 2014 – AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth
Josh Wise gained popularity after winning the Sprint Fan Vote over favorite Danica Patrick to earn a spot in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race in May. He most recently finished 23rd at the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway on July 6.

Since you’ve taken it this far, you should definitely get a short television commercial together for when/if these sponsored races air. Otherwise, it’s just a logo on a car racing around a track, right? I guess if Wise was to actually win one of these races, that might get some extra advertisement out there.
All in all, I just hope our premiums aren’t going up because of this, because they have been increasing for almost all silver and gold here recently.
jason says
which issue zombucks did you give them? if you keep paying in zombucks..there goes the low mintage.
John says
Who cares about low mintage? You seriously think these ugly coins carry any sort of premium? There could be 5 of them minted in the whole world and you would be lucky to get $1.00 above spot, from any sane person that is. I can’t believe you can buy an ASE for the same price. These are the worst bullion products ever produced…horrible. They make a mockery of some of the most beautiful coins this country ever made and the artists who designed them.
Ken says
John .. Looks like you could write for MSNBC and not tell the whole truth about the subject in question. I made my first NASCAR race in 1961. Bot my first silver bar, 10 oz for $40.00. FYI, If the 70,000,000 NASCAR fans across the country decided they would love to buy a limited edition 1 oz silver collector coin .. Well .. You do the math ..PS … and lighten up a tad.
You’ll feel better and more people will like you ..

Calm DOWN, guy!!! Have you had your blood pressure checked lately???

Having been a NASCAR fan for years and purchasing numerous things from Provident Metals, I do not share the same enthusiasm as others who have commented with glee. Nice to know Provident has made so much money from customers that now it can afford to throw it away in lieu of rewarding faithful customers with some discounts to say thank you. Get a grip Provident! There are other businesses out there selling gold and silver bullion which I have no problem procuring my coins from.
Greg says
Don’t care much, but Provident will make a lot of money with the advertisement with the NASCAR crowd who tend to be conservative and don’t trust the Feds.

My thoughts exactly!

Now start accepting bitcoin and doge.
Shibe says
They now accept Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin.

Congrats to Provident Metals and Josh and team. Will be looking for a NASCAR 2014 silver coin set and possible silver bar.
Unreal Junior Johnson says
This is awesome! Getting paid in silver & getting paid in dogecoins is bad to the bone. Phil Parsons is smart to accept any currency except dollars. Dollars. Ha! Who wants ’em anyway?
BLMCAPITAL says
Good for Provident..Wish they would sponsor an NHRA PRO STOCK
machine OR MAYBE A FUNNY CAR

Never thought I’d see the day that my favorite sport & favorite hobby would merge. Way to go Provident & #98 team.
Jack says
I find Provident’s sponsorship an unexpected surprise. Considering the fact that they are so secretive about their ownership it make me wonder who showed up and signed the papers.
Walter says
I see they finally found a way to spend all those Zombucks they didn’t sell. Seriously, good folks and a good product. Good luck with the racing.
Elwin mogridge says

Jason says
Way to go provident metals!!! That’s a good sponsorsh.
Provident metals should get some licensing to use the NASCAR name to make the legends Of NASCAR coin series that would make a ton of money.
Congratulations. I’ll be looking for Josh on the podium.

I am excited to see diverse companies putting their name behind such an amazing team. You guys have made a Wise (pun intended) investment by choosing to sponsor PPR and the #98 car piloted by non other than Josh Wise.
I wish you all the best of luck and hope to see him knock out some great runs for you guys.
Jon says
Congratulations Josh! All is Shibes will always support you! Next stop fan vote for driver of the year!
