Remember the Sacrifices of Americans in this New GSM Silver Round Release

For more than 225 years, ordinary Americans have taken extraordinary measures to step into the line of fire and defend freedom. Whether it was their own freedom or the freedom of other oppressed people around the world, American soldiers have served on the soil of North America, in the deserts of Africa, across the mountains of Korea, and throughout the rolling hills of the European continent. While Americans have stepped up to answer the call of others, their greatest duty has always been the preservation of American freedom back home. With the release of its latest silver round, the Golden State Mint adds to its already impressive series of Americana-themed designs.

Paying Homage to the Troops

In the obverse design of the 1 oz Silver Home of the Free Round, the Golden State Mint pays homage to hard-charging Americans who have stepped in over more than 200 years to ensure the freedoms of Americans and others around the world. The design showcases four soldiers at ease with full battle gear on and weapons at hand. These silhouettes may honor the appearance of the modern American hero, but it also honors every American who has donned the uniform of a United States Military member from the Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War to the modern conflicts in Europe, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and the Middle East that have seen Americans serve abroad. Along with the silhouettes of the American soldiers are inscriptions of “Protecting Our Freedom,” “Home of the Free,” “Because of the Brave,” and a ring of stars around the design element.

The Stars and Stripes

For the reverse face of 1 oz Silver Home of the Free Rounds, a popular design element from the Golden State Mint makes yet another appearance. Here, the majesty of the American flag is on display as it gently flaps in the breeze. There are various textured visuals applied to set apart the stars and stripes in the American flag. The 13 stripes of the American flag represent those brave colonies who threw off the shackles of British oppression to chart a new course forward with a new form of representative government. The upper-left field comes with 50 stars that represent all of the states in the Union. The inscriptions found on this side of the round read “One Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver” and “Golden State Mint.”

Background of “Land of the Free, Because of the Brave”

From its very founding, it took bravery to even form the United States of America. The men who signed their names to the Declaration of Independence, a document declaring the freedom of the colonies from British control, were signing their own death warrants. These men, if captured, could be tried and executed for treason by the British. In defense of that cause, ordinary Americans left fields, farms, and businesses to take up arms and chart a new path forward. In the time since further generations of Americans have taken up arms time and time again. From protecting that newfound freedom in the War of 1812 to preserving the Union in the Civil War. From aiding other democracies in the fight against imperialism in World War I and World War II to defending the principles of freedom over tyranny in the Korean War. American forces, particularly in the modern era, serve an all-volunteer military. To this day, America remains a free land because the brave are willing to step into the crucible and serve a righteous cause.
