Mount Chocorua is popular among photographers and hikers due to its breathtaking views and challenging trails. It’s now gaining popularity with investors after appearing on the White Mountain National Forest 5 Oz Silver Bullion Coin from the U.S. Mint’s 2013 America the Beautiful (ATB) silver bullion series. Each coin contains 5 troy ounces of .999 silver bullion.
The first of five coins released in 2013 and 16th overall, the White Mountain National Forest reverse showcases Mt. Chocorua in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. “WHITE MOUNTAIN,” “2013,” “NEW HAMPSHIRE” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are inscribed outside of the illustration.
Mt. Chocorua is the Sandwich Range’s easternmost peak at 3,490 feet. The Range extends 30 miles and can be identified throughout parts of New Hampshire and Maine. The gorgeous view is often photographed and painted, especially from Chocorua Lake, where the mountaintop tends to reflect off the lake.
The obverse displays the popular George Washington portrait with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The original Washington image was used on the Washington Quarter in 1932.
Four other 2013 America the Beautiful five ounce silver coins will be released this year, with each design honoring national parks and sites across the United States.
– Ohio’s Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial
– Nevada’s Great Basin National Park
– Maryland’s Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine
– South Dakota’s Mount Rushmore National Memorial
