For thousands of years, cultures around the world had marveled at the wonders of Ancient Egypt and the stories of its legendary pharaohs. Time and again, one of the most talked-about pharaohs was King Tutankhamun, the alleged Boy King of Ancient Egypt. Like many stores of Ancient Egypt, scholars debated the truth of some of the legends of Egypt as physical evidence was scant. In 1922, the reality of the Boy King came to light with the discovery of a tomb holding his body inside a sarcophagus. The newest Foreign Silver Coin in our catalog online at Provident Metals celebrates the mysteries of King Tut and his tomb.

History of King Tut
King Tutankhamun ascended to the throne of the Egyptian Kingdom following the death of his father, the pharaoh Akhenaten. When his father died, Tut was a boy of just 8 or 9 years. During his brief reign, King Tut reversed many of the actions taken by his father. He restored the Ancient Egyptian religion, restored old monuments that had been damaged during the previous period, and moved the capital back to Thebes from his father’s city of Akhetaten. In 1922, Howard Carter found the near-intact tomb of King Tut in the Valley of The Kings outside of Thebes, Egypt.
