Provident’s original Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse series of silver and copper rounds concludes with the Pale Horse of Death. This is the fourth and final design in the series, following the White Horse of Conquest, the Red Horse of War, and the Black Horse of Famine. The new Pale Horse round will be available from January 1st through March 31st.
The Pale Horse of Death is the last horsemen to ride across the land, representing sickness and decay. This horse is described as having a greenish hue to its hide, and its rider is said to have the power to “kill by sword, famine, and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.” Our version of this horsemen is designed as a skeletal figure carrying a large scythe and riding an armored horse. Each round in this series features a privy mark unique to the featured horsemen. The Pale Horse bears a privy mark in the shape of crossed scythes. Read our blog to learn more about this series in its entirety.
The Pale Horse will be available as a BU silver round and a BU copper round beginning on January 1st. Later, we will have a limited number of NGC graded and slabbed Pale Horse rounds available for sale. These graded rounds will be available in both a proof and antiqued finish, with grades of GEM, 69, and 70. Each comes individually serialized in a holder with a custom series label.
Alongside the Pale Horse rounds, we’re also excited to release a Four Horsemen 10 oz Silver Bar, featuring each design from the series. While the rounds were each released with a limited production run, the silver bar has an open run. Also available are NGC graded and slabbed Four Horsemen rounds.
There are only a few more days to buy the Black Horse of Famine rounds before they’re discontinued. As of today, 12,683 silver Black Horse rounds and 10,869 copper Black Horse rounds have been sold. This low mintage is great for collectors. And we’ve already seen impressive resale value on the secondary market!
