Works of fiction have always been prevalent in pop culture, fueling our imaginations and filling our lives with a sense of adventure. Over the past few decades, the steampunk genre has been gaining popularity among writers, filmmakers, costumers, and other hobbyists. But what is steampunk?
Steampunk reimagines the Victorian time period and culture as science fiction. The industrialized 19th century saw the rise of mechanized manufacturing and increasing urbanization. Steampunk expands on this notion by imagining more modern technologies in the steam-powered setting of the Victorian age. Steam engines are used in new forms of mass transit like airships, and other machinery drives advances in science and business.
Within the steampunk genre, you’ll see characters like aviators, mechanics, explorers, monster hunters, military figures, gunslingers, and aristocrats. These archetypes are generally seen wearing period clothing, with the addition of steam-powered gadgetry. For instance, you might find an explorer who wears a mechanical prosthetic leg or a scientist who wears a mechanized magnifying headset. These characters inhabit a futuristic version of our actual history. The appeal of steampunk is wide-ranging—from those who enjoy the clothing of the Victorian period to those who are drawn to the genre’s reimagining of modern technologies within the confines of 19th century machinery.

I love science fiction and action. I love star trek. When it comes to comics i love comedy like deadpool.
Very cool. Worked as an avionics tech while in the military, and enjoy anything that flies.
My all time favorite genre is fantasy. Specifically Terry Brooks’ Shannara series! During detention my sophomore year in high school I was tasked with finding a book and reading it and giving a report on it within a week. I still remember coming across the blank, worn red book that smelled like old newspapers and my grandparents attic. I took it off the shelf, sat down in the back of isle I found it in and began reading. Hours passed like minutes it seemed and in no time I was released to go home. 15 years later, I’m still reading and own all of his books in the Shannara series. Unfortunately, he is finally ending the series after almost 40 years and these final books are more riviting than ever! I challenge anyone who hasn’t read them to go check it out.

New scientific developments and science fiction, which often predicts the real science. Legal/Constitutional and social justice principles too.
Steampunk takes the technical benefits of the industrial age to heights not achieved in our real world due to the bastardization of such by the robber barons of the industrial age such as Carnegie and his ilk to rob the masses of the glories of the technological discoveries to line their coffers with the riches derived from the crushing of the human spirit.
