Works of fiction have always been prevalent in pop culture, fueling our imaginations and filling our lives with a sense of adventure. Over the past few decades, the steampunk genre has been gaining popularity among writers, filmmakers, costumers, and other hobbyists. But what is steampunk?
Steampunk reimagines the Victorian time period and culture as science fiction. The industrialized 19th century saw the rise of mechanized manufacturing and increasing urbanization. Steampunk expands on this notion by imagining more modern technologies in the steam-powered setting of the Victorian age. Steam engines are used in new forms of mass transit like airships, and other machinery drives advances in science and business.
Within the steampunk genre, you’ll see characters like aviators, mechanics, explorers, monster hunters, military figures, gunslingers, and aristocrats. These archetypes are generally seen wearing period clothing, with the addition of steam-powered gadgetry. For instance, you might find an explorer who wears a mechanical prosthetic leg or a scientist who wears a mechanized magnifying headset. These characters inhabit a futuristic version of our actual history. The appeal of steampunk is wide-ranging—from those who enjoy the clothing of the Victorian period to those who are drawn to the genre’s reimagining of modern technologies within the confines of 19th century machinery.

I loved the TV genre of The Early to Mid 1960’s. I remember such Great TV Shows as My Favorite Martian. The Beverly Hillbillies, Mr. ED, Gilligans Island, The Rifleman, Batman TV Show (Adam West). It was a Great Time to Grow Up in America and one Heck of Genre !
I really like movies like Day After Tomorrow or Dante’s Peak think they are really good because they can spark a family discussion like what if it happened? Where would you go? What gear would you need and what items for trade so you get what else you need? Where would you try to trade your fractional silver and gold? Love those discussions.

I love to read nonfiction historical books of the past people and events. Currently reading about Ben Franklin and his life and time. One thing that sticks out most is this quote “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” Which can be applied to any timeframe that we must keep learning and bettering ourselves.
I like science fiction. It allows us to imagine how things might be.
I enjoy many genres from action to noir, however Science Fiction will always be my favorite. Nothing like looking into the future and seeing what mans endless potential could bring him. We all have the ability to be great. I just wish more people were willing to put in the effort to get there instead of crying about how everything is unfair. Just my humble opinion and thanks a ton for the great giveaway!!
Any sci-fi can always peak my interest as there are so many possible storylines. A well written fantasy or mystery is also good!
Non-fiction
My favorite movie was George Romero 1978 Dawn of the Dead. I was 16 and was one of the Zombies in the movie.
