Fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise are getting excited for the fifth movie, entitled Dead Men Tell No Tales. Since the movie has a release date of May 26, we’ve decided to do a pirate-themed giveaway for the month of May!
Many of you are familiar with the eccentric antics of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp. In Dead Men Tell No Tales, Sparrow returns to face an old nemesis named Captain Armando Salazar. He controls a crew of ghost pirates who have escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, with a mission of killing every pirate at sea…including Jack. Sparrow’s only means of survival is to find the legendary Trident of Poseidon, which gives its owner control over the seas.
Captain Jack Sparrow is no novice when it comes to tracking down the seemingly impossible. Through the first four movies, we’ve watched him hunt for his ship (called The Black Pearl), the Dead Man’s Chest, an ancient goddess with the power to defeat Davy Jones, and the Fountain of Youth. Not to mention, good ‘ole Jack is always searching for more rum!
Director Joachim Ronning has said that Dead Men Tell No Tales is only the beginning of the final adventure in the series, so we may still get one or two more movies before the Pirates of the Caribbean is complete.
As we patiently (or impatiently) await the debut date, let’s give away a piece of silver! Entering Provident’s May giveaway is easy. All you need to do is leave a comment below and tell us your favorite moment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, or another pirate story if you’d prefer. One winner will be randomly selected on May 19, 2017 to receive a Yeager 1 oz Poured Silver Skull. Leave your comments by May 18, 2017 at 11:59 PM to be entered to win.
May the winds of fortune blow in your favor!
I love the humor and theatrical fun throughout the entire movie.
What can I say, and what fun it would be to find the treasure of the skull.
If I win this prize, I think I will bury it in a treasure box and open a Facebook page with clues to see if someone finds it.
So fun, thanks for the opportunity!
All the treasure
In 2008 I had a pirate-themed birthday in May and asked a girl to dinner and a movie. She was dressed as a sexy bar wench. She asked me my opinion between 2 movies: Forgetting Sarah Marshall (R) or Iron Man (PG-13) and when I told her Forgetting Sarah Marshall was clearly a better choice she asked me why, so I said “Because it’s rated Arghhhh!”
I love how Jack gets out of difficult situations in all kinds of crazy ways.
I like the boat wars.
Def the crabs moving the ship over the desert.
THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL.
Norrington: You are, without doubt, the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of.
Jack Sparrow: But you have heard of me.
There is not on favorite part that stands out to me. They all are the best movie series ever made! Rrrr mates!
“You have to be the worst pirate I have ever heard of”
“But you have heard of me”
My family and I have only been collecting silver for a little bit and have been enjoying every chance we get to make a order. We are learning and having fun all at the same time. We’d love to have this piece in our small family collection. Thanks
Jack Sparrow: Not all treasure is silver and gold.
Johnny depp when he’s being so funny and wild. Brilliant take on capt jack sparrow!
I am fascinated by the compass that only points toward what your heart truly desires. If only we had one of these for those moments in life where the course we have set upon is no longer clear, and we have lost our way! In lieu of a magic compass I use a lamp unto my feet. Stay the course! Me fellow pirates!!
My favorite scene is when Mullroy and Murtogg, the two British soldiers always arguing, come out dressed as pirates at the end of rhe movie, cheering with the other pirates. I must have died laughing. Their back and forth banter reminds me of how I am with my bestfried, my wife.
Why is the rum always gone
beautiful
Since I never saw an entire POC movie, how about this for some local “lore”?:
The tale that named Nags Head (NC) has it all: pirates, tall ships, the new world and a lawless sea.
As they carved their living from a scrubby and barren landscape, the story goes, locals along the North Carolina waterfront turned to the ships sailing off their coast. At night, they would tie a lantern around an old horse’s neck and walk the nag up and down the sand dunes.
Captains at sea saw the bobbing light and thought it came from an anchored ship. But upon sailing closer to what they thought was safe harbor, their ships would wreck on the shoals. That’s when local “land pirates” attacked, plundered and made off with the booty.
Savvy!
Oh, it’s a pirate’s life for me! Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!
Pirate code: fall behind left behind.
When Jack says “Why’s the rum gone”
Not one in a million could handle being a pirate, just read some history books about real pirates. But, pirate movies are fun and POTC are some of the best.
“You are by far the worst pirate I have ever heard of.”
“-But you have heard of me.”
Greatest line. I used it to make several memes. Lol
“Fifteen men on the Dead Man’s Chest Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum! Drink and the devil had done for the rest. Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!”
Treasure Island
